There's nothing like adding a fresh

coat of paint over a color you never

really seemed to like! We've lived in

our house for almost 6 years and I just

never could find the umph to finish the

main bathroom. It was a green color, its not

like I didn't like the color..it just never seemed

right! So after a long week i needed a little

activity..I figured why not change the color

and put the trim up that I bought a year ago!

Now I just need to decide on accent colors!

Sam still wants it to feel like her bathroom...

pinks and greens maybe....

New Years Resolutions!

Well here we are about to start a new

year and of course there are those

silly resolutions that we ALL make and

never keep! I got skinny once I KNOW

I can do it again! With a little motivation

and a new attitude I will make my goal

of 150 by My birthday! The boys think

its great that they can lift more on the weight

bench....Im here to say the challenge is on!

I will show them that momma's got muscles

and not (what Austin calls) bingo wings! Watch

out boys MOMMA's out to WIN!

we went to get in bed the other nigh and I

found Zaner's holding his puppy (1st pic) that

normally is just sitting in the corner of

his bed. Then in the middle of the night we

kept hearing his little puppy bark...every time

he would roll over it would make the little sound

thing in his hand go off! Then last night I went in to

check on him and found him with his arm

around his little buddy!

And the BEST thing about it...He has

slept thru the night for 2 nights!!!

Living in the country has its perks!

There are several Choke Cherry trees and

I have an awesome Mother-in-law who has

taught me how to make Choke Cherry Jelly and Syrup

not to mention bottle tomatoes and pickles!

I think I probably have enough juice to supply my

One of the things I love the most about

going to Grandma Limbs are the humming birds!

I remember when we were little she
had probably 4 or 5 feeders out in her
yard and the birds would

come in numbers! My mom also loved these

little birds and we had several feeders

around our house! Since we moved into our house

I have put up 2 or 3 feeders
and usually we get a couple visitors at a time!
The year that mom died it was

crazy....we had 4 birds fighting over our 2 feeders!

I can sit and watch these little guys for hours!!

I have to admit that we were NOT

the most reverent family on Sunday!

Usually Zane will only pull this face

a couple of times and then he is done but

Sunday during Sacrament Mtg he did this

for at least 20 minutes straight and we

were NOT on the back row so you can

only imagine what was going on behind us!

YUP....LOTS and LOTS of laughing...the row

behind us was laughing...people

to the side of us were laughing...and I was

laughing so hard I was crying!

I didn't dare turn him around to face the

Bishop (aka Grandpa Rex) for fear

he would be up there laughing uncontrollably!

Mother's Day

This is my AWESOME mother-in-law!

I couldn't ask for a better mom-in-law,

she is always there for us night or day. She

jumps in and never complains when I need someone

to help me out! She helps me with the kids

and tries not to miss any of their sporting events!

I don't have to worry about need a babysitter EVER!

We never have to question..."who loves us the most"

because we know its her!!

So i will admit it....I am truly addicted!

This is one of the MANY things I need

to give up! For about 8 months before I got

pregnant with Zane I was getting in to shape and for

about 4 of those months

I was running 5 miles...yes count em

5 miles! I had given up yummy Ice Cold Coke!

I was eating healthy and I was starting to look

pretty darn good! Now here I am 6 months after

baby and I can't even run 1 mile =(

I will do this!!! I will be running 5 miles by summer!

So this will be my last week of Coke and Bad foods!!

I CAN DO THIS!!!

starting Sunday its ON...No more bad stuff!

Im counting on everyone to cheer me on!

Popcorn....How Ive missed you!

We prefer to have homemade popcorn

over the microwave! We have been out of

popcorn oil for about a month now and

CAL Ranch in Pocatello has been out of it!

So I decided enough was enough...or maybe

I was just going thru withdraws..So I called

the CAL Ranch in Logan and she assured me that

they had PLENTY...So I called my friend Jennae and

we got in the car and drove to Logan on saturday!

When we got there I expected to see PLENTY of

it.....I found ONE! Yep just ONE....and Its MINE!

I am happy to report that I am no longer going thru

withdraws and I will NEVER let the popcorn oil

be 3/4 gone without stocking up!

Its safer for everyone that way! =)

Plus I had to borrow Jennae's BIG popper once

and Im sure she Is GLAD I got oil again!

Zaners @ 6 months old!

We went to the Dr. this last week and

he weighed in at 19 lbs 3 oz. I honestly

can't even remember how long he is but I know

it was off the charts! Our Dr. took one

look at him and said he doesn't even

need to look at the charts to know he is a

very happy healthy baby! Zane sure loves

to flirt with the nurses...who by the way loved

his sexy thighs....which I promise to take pics

of soon! He handled the 3 shots he got very well!

He only gave the nurses a dirty look for a split second

and then he turned the charm back on!

While we were are a baskeball game
over the weekend there were some
little girls that came in and I noticed that
they had a sparkly stuff in their hair..
so of course I had to investigate...
So I sent a txt to Whitnee my friend from
work who also does hair and she informs me that
its heat resistant tinsel. Now I had over heard one
of the mothers about how much it cost..and
I wasn't about to spend that much money on something
I was sure I could figure out myself! So with my
handy dandy phone I did some searching and sure
enough I found this heat resistant tinsel!
But then silly me remembered that I have an account
at Peerless Beauty suppy! So I picked up some
of this fun stuff and whala (or how ever you spell that)
Samantha now has purple and silver tinsel in her hair!
This stuff is AWESOME. For those of you who know
my daughter...she has had a pink stripe in her hair
and has begggggggged me to do it again! This
is a much funner (that is a word right?)
and non-permanent way of letting her have her
colorful hair!

Sam is such a good helper!

All Zane has to do is squak and she is

right there. She used to love to feed him

when he was smaller and didn't

wiggle as much. Now she loves

to lay on the floor next to him and make

We made a quick trip down to Salt Lake

for Dallins Ordination and on our way

back Sunday the kids were STARVING

So we decided to stop at IN-N-OUT Burger!

I think we might have cured our kids from wanting

McDonald's and it was about 5 to 7 dollars cheaper!

Austin made that 7th grade Basketball Team at

the Middle School! He has been playing on an

All Star team for almost a year now and learned

so much! He has come a long way and

just keeps getting better! So proud of him!

My favorite time of night is at about 9:45.

Zane has had his last bottle for the night and

he loves to cuddle! He is so peaceful and he will just

lay there in my arms and fall asleep!

He was such a daddy's boy there for about the

first 2 1/2 months. Daddy was the

only one who could get him to sleep before

1 in the morning. Slowly and surely we have made it

to sometime between 9:45 and 10:30!

Austin, Jeff and Sam are such good

helpers! All Zane has to do is make a noise and he

has gotten someones attention! He is

the happiest little man, he even wakes up happy!

A year ago I was angry about being prego and I knew

there was no reason for us to be having a baby but now

I sit here and wonder what in the world would we do

without him! His little laugh brings so much

joy to our home!

Wow a lot has happend in our Family this year!

From finding out our little family was going to grow

to sending Grandpa half way around the world!

Our lives are EXTREMELY busy!

lets start with Austin

Austin has had a very busy year with sports.

He played on an All Star Basketball team that

played in several 6 to 8 week long tournaments!

He has become quite the basketball player. He went from

basketball to baseball where he has been the pitcher

for the last couple of years. From that he went to football.

This seems to be a year of growth for him not only has

he become more aggressive in his sports he has probably

grown 6 inches! He is going to be taller than me by summer

I am sure of it!

Now Jeff

Jeff is a natural athlete and had an incredible year

in both baseball and football. In baseball he hit

9 home runs and if I remember right he hit 3 in one game.

Moving on to football....he played just about every position you

could think of. He made the most touchdowns

and had the most tackles! Jeff says to tell you that

he is just plain AWESOME! He also has had a growth spurt

but Im happy to report I will still be taller than him

for at least a little longer! :)

Samantha!

Wow...She has been a straight A student and loves

school! She is becoming quite the violin player.

recitals still make her nervous but thats ok.

She got to play baseball and soccer! Im afraid

Im going to have to teach her how to NOT run like

a girl. I don't know how that happened!

She has been a great helper with her

little brother even tho she wanted a sister!

She changes diapers and feeds him! She is

going to make a great babysitter! As far as growing

welllll I think she might be more like Grandma Curtis!

And last but not least Zane!

HOLY COW.....BOY!

Im sure you can only imagine our shock

when the nurse said "he has all the right parts for a BOY!"

This little guys is going to be full of surprises!

From surprising us that he was coming to

surprising us at delivery! He is going to

keep us on our toes! He is the happiest little guy!

I guess I should tell you about Todd and I too.

Todd has taken on a new role as "coach",

He coached the boys baseball team, Jeff's football team

and now he is coaching Jeff's basketball team!

We have been lucky with this economy for him to

be working for the State of Idaho Electrical Bureau and

he still teaches school at ISU's technology department part time.

As for me well Im busier than ever running kidlets from

practices to games. I still work at ISU Credit Union as

the Senior Teller, we are like family there. I am hoping to

take a photography class this year! We have been married

for 14 years this month! WOW how time flies when your

having fun!

We hope everyone has a Happy New Year!

And maybe just maybe we can all keep at least

one of our New Year's Resolutions!

(mine is to lose this baby fat!)

Uncle Brad gave us tickets to go to the Jazz game

Its always been said that babies smile

when they are "gasey" when they are just

little but I am sure that there is more to it than that!

We keep catching Zane with these little smiles and

lately they have been getting bigger and bigger

and they seem to be happening more often!

Lastnight he was laying on my lap and he

had this tiny little smile, I can't help but

wonder what he is dreaming about or maybe just

maybe he and my mom are having these little

conversations in his sleep!

Halloween Cookies

Hunting Season

Well hunting season has officially begun in
our household. Austin gets to hunt deer this
year and Jeff gets so hunt small game..ie birds!
So today after football Todd took them
pheasant hunting for the very first
time. After a couple of tries they

The kids did alot this year for 4 H and the fair
and I am realllllly behind on updating! IM SORRY!
I came across this pic today on my computer of
Jeff and Lady. Lady is the horse that we
borrowed from our friends Dick and Patty.
When this all started Jeff and Austin really
hadn't had much interest in the horses but they
wanted to do 4 H, and because we only have
one horse we borrowed Lady.
Jeff was a fast learner but little did we know
that by the end of the fair Jeff had become
very attached to her. When Dick came to
take her home Jeff got a little emotional
and told us that this was the worst day ever
because Lady had to go home!
You can just see the attachment that he
had for her in this picture! I love it!

Back to School and Life with us.

Ok...So I officially feel like the worst mom!

I didn't get pics of my kids on their first day of school!

Not because I didn't want to but to be completely honest

I had absolutely no energy to do it! By the time I got myself

ready for work and got Sam's hair done Austin had to walk out

the door to catch the bus for his first day of Middle School. Yes my

oldest is growing up so quick. He didn't even hesitate to walk out

the door. He came in my bathroom while I was getting ready and

did his hair and kissed me goodbye! Off he went! From the sounds

of it he had a very successfull day! He didn't even have any problems

with his locker! He also loves having more that one teacher!

Im sure that If I were to ask him what his

favorite class is he will tell me it's P.E.

Jeff is starting 5th this year and will spend half of the day

in the 6th grade class and then the rest of the day in 5th.

I wasn't sure how I would feel about this but to be honest

Jeff needs a little push. School has always come so easy for

him. He needs something to really make him think and work.

The only thing I don't think he likes is having to ride his bike

to school with his sister!

Samantha is now in the 3rd grade! It wouldn't matter what grade

she is in she just loves school. She loves to see her friends

and she loves her teachers! So far school work has come very

easy to her too! She is growing up so fast!

I noticed that her school supply list didn't mention crayons

so I thought maybe I should send them anyway just incase that

was an error! She came home from school with her pencil box

and the crayons and proceeded to inform me that

her teacher says that crayons are for the "little kids" and that

they are no longer the "little kids" so

they will be using colored pencils!

I must be one of the "little kids" cause I still

love to use crayons!

Life around our house has always been very

busy between going from one sport to the next and

adding animals and moving pipe

and now back to school and Football. I work part time

at ISU Credit Union and I have coached

volleyball for 6 years but have decided to give up

coaching do to my current condition!

Todd works full time and teaches school

at ISU two nights a week and he is the assistant coach

for Jeff's football team. For these first

2 months of school we don't eat dinner

before 8 and and we are lucky to

have homework done and have everyone

tucked into bed by 10:00!

Having said all that our newest addition is

coming and will add to our very busy lives! I know

it will be a BIG adjustment for all of us but

So my husband has decided that we are taking
out our propane stove out and putting
in a wood burning one. This means
that we have to get wood for the winter.
My friend Mindy also has a wood burning stove
and she also needs LOTS of wood too.
So my husband and the 4 boys made a
trip up the canyon to get wood. Did I also mention
that the boys just WASHED the truck??
This is the 2nd load that Todd and my boys
have gotten this week and he plans on taking
ALL the boys tomorrow to get 2 more loads!
(Austin is not pictured because after they got back
he had to go to a scout mtg but he did go with them!)
They worked so hard today!
Way to go Boys!
I think I will have to reward them with
a day of swimming!

Car Wash

Being the mean mother that I am
I made my boys wash the durango on
monday after I got home from work!
I was in charge of the hose and I told them
that if they missed a spot I would spray them!
They must have done a pretty good job
because they didn't get wet enough!
NEXT time they will GET WET!

Jeff and the Zip Line

We went up to our Bishops farm
on Sunday for a cook out and the
neighbor has a zip line at his cabin.
There is nothing better than
Yummy food and some fun!
The boys were in heaven!

to put one in at our house.

I decided to put Sam's hair in braids tonight
and usually that means just two braids. But
I figured she would be riding the wheeler to
grandma's house a lot this week to help feed
and her hair always ends up in snarls which
leads to lots of crying when brushed!!! So
I decided to try doing lots of little braids!
(I know what your thinking...
how often do I wash her hair? well
every other night unless she gets reallly dirty
or plays in the sprinklers)
Not bad for my first attempt. They aren't in
straight rows by any means but hey it will
do the job!

Ok I know I said we had a "relaxing" weekend
but when you have 3 horses, 3 cows and 2 sheep
you gotta feed em somehow right?
So Todd cut hay on Wednesday night and
Saturday morning he and the boys baled it and then
they hauled it. Sam got to drive the wheeler
around the field for them to pick up the bales!
Im not sure how much help the boys really were
as you can see in some of these pics they still had a
hard time bucking them up in the trailer! But they did try!!
Sam was so excited to just to be driving the wheeler!
I think we ended up with over a hundred bales.
Hopefully we will get a second crop! I little rain would
probably help even if I don't like the rain!

Our 4th of July weekend started out with

jug of homemade rootbeer!! YUM!
The kids love it when it gets to the end and the
dry ice is pretty much just slush!
We had a very relaxing weekend, it was nice to not
have to hurry somewhere! We had a really yummy
Dutch oven dinner (that Todd cooked) on Sunday
with todd's mom's cousin who has moved to idaho
and bought a dairy! (thats where we got our calves)
We did some fireworks and froze! Its amazing that
its the 4th of July and we had to have warm jackets
and blankets around us to watch fireworks!
(sorry for the lack of pictures but to be completely
honest with you I was just to lazy to take them!)
(And by the time I really thought about it...it was too dark!)

So we have been talking about baby names for a couple of months now and Jeff just cannot come to terms with the name Mackenzie or Mckenzie. You know how when you are in school with someone or you've worked with someone or you went to church with someone or you lived in the same neighborhood with someone who just irritates you or is mean or just plain annoying and you hear that persons name and you just don't like that name anymore?? Well apparently sometime somewhere in our little town of 600 people, someone with the name Mckenzie (however you want to spell it) has ANNOYED my Jeff!!! So we asked him what name he likes.....His response.....ANYTHING BUT MCKENZIE. At first I was just kept saying "oh you'll get used to it and it won't really matter anymore". But the more I think back (way back) to when I was in school and the girls and boys who were mean or annoying to me and I STILL can't stand their names. I know Im an adult now and I should get over it. But I do know how Jeff feels.. so we are on the name hunt again. Im not saying Mckenzie is out yet but hey who says we can't change our minds?!

Having said ALL that the name Peyton had entered our minds. So far there hasn't been any disagreement from any of our kids (whew)! And luckily there isn't anyone in Downey or on either side of our families with that name...Please correct me if i'm wrong but I don't recall any cousins naming their girls that!!!

Opinions please! Name suggestions...are always welcome!

Preston Baseball Champions 2010!

The boys did AWESOME today!!
Austin did some great pitching!
Jeff had a homerun!
And we had a boy who hadn't hit ALL
season who hit a double today!!
They only lost one game this season
and it was to the team we beat today!

This is such a great group of boys!

Newest Addition to our Growing Family

We have now added 3 calves to our family of
3 horses, 2 sheep, 3 dogs, and several cats!
Someday I will get my chickens!!!
I mean really....a farm isn't complete
with out chickens....right??

The boys had a double header today

and it was FREEZING!!
Despite the weather they won
their first game 5-1. The second
game was just for fun!
Austin Pitched 4 innings and did Awesome.
As you can see in the first couple of pics
the play was at home and Jeff slid in to make
the score! They played AWESOME!!
Im so proud of them!
And if you look really close you can
see that Austin is hitting left handed!
He is right handed but he's been working
really hard at being able to hit
either way! He actually hits better
left handed! Jeff has been playing 1st base
and catcher! He loves to be catcher and he
hardly ever lets a ball get past him!

The boys took on a job this summer
moving pipe for our friend Dennis.
I think that this is the second day and so
far not toooo much complaining! I gotta tell ya
though this is not easy work and they seem to
be doing pretty good! Todd is helping them since
this is their first time and I'm not sure who comes
home dirtier him or the boys!!
Thank heavens for grandma's washer and clothes line!!
They have BIG plans for the $$$ they earn!
(Little do they know they have savings accounts
that can't wait to see deposits!)
Between baseball, sheep, moving pipe and 4-H,
oh and Todd cutting hay at nights our
Summer is jam packed! We will be lucky to
ever make it out of Downey for anything!

The boys got their 4-H sheep yesterday!
They had weigh in at the fair grounds and
Austins weighed 80 lbs and Jeffs was 87!
That was definitely the craziest thing I've seen!
This will be an interesting adventure for us!
The first bath will be a sight!!

Samantha Had her Spring Recital on Sunday!
She did soo good. She played Lightly Row and
She'll be coming around the mountain.
